Responding to the Higher Demands for UV-LEDs
The forecast for future market trends, called for a doubling of the size of the market in the next five years, in particular in the UV-C range. This forecast growth should increase even more than predicted due to recent stricter disinfection regulations in the pandemic situation. Instrument Systems has developed three calibration standards in the ACS series for the three UV ranges A/B/C. The ACS 570-24 covers the UV-C range. The typical radiant flux lies here between 40-60 mW, the peak wavelength at 280 nm. Konica Minolta Sensing Americas and Instrument Systems GmbH has been setting UV LED calibration standards and addressing the hazards of blue light through our various testing processes for many years. Our high-end test system solutions contribute to the performance and safety of these high-power UV LED sources. Learn more about our portfolio of UV products.

Challenges in UV Measurement
The development of UV LEDs and their production are technologically very challenging. The UV-B and UV-C spectral ranges are particularly very demanding. Low radiant flux – in particular in UVBs and UVCs – necessitates highly sensitive optical measuring systems for precise radiometric characterization. This also applies to use in the lab (including product development, reference system for production) and in production itself.

Featured Products:
Measuring Blue Light Hazard
The blue light hazard (BLH) measuring station from Instrument Systems evaluates and classifies LED lamps and luminaires according to blue light hazard as described in Standards IEC 62471 and IEC/TR 62778.
These individual system components in its high-end portfolio are consistently ongoing technological upgrades to ensure that they satisfy current requirements. Precise BLH measurements on the basis of the established CAS 140D spectroradiometer guarantee the greatest possible safety in the classification of tested lamps and luminaires in die BLH risk classes
Integrating Spheres for UV
All Instrument Systems UV measurement solutions with PTFE integrating spheres are delivered with a PTB traceable calibration. Offering measurements for UV-A, -B and -C radiation starting from 200nm. The CAS series, facilitates high sensitivity measurements of UV radiant power. Each sphere is equipped with a set of measurement adapters for all relevant applications in the lab and in UV-LED production. The highly reflective PTFE coating ensures high throughput, also in the critical ranges UV-C and UV-B.
