Light Trends and Technology August Newsletter

The world of lighting has evolved into a universe of choices. There are CFL bulbs, halogen bulbs and LED bulbs. Whatever your preference (and even if you’re still enamored of increasingly hard-to-find incandescent bulbs), the question is what is next? Research and development has already begun with a nod towards the laser lighting industry. More specifically, laser diodes.  These diodes are much smaller than LEDs and are capable of producing up to 1000 times as much light for 2/3rd of the energy. Many automotive companies are already using forms of the technology in their headlights with its compact size offering more flexibility in the growth to new designs and applications.

The fullest potential of LEDs and the future of laser lighting is still yet to come. Read a blog on how LEDs transform city landscapes.

Want to learn more about Konica Minolta Sensing's instruments that measure laser diodes?  Contact us to learn about Instrument System's CAS120-HR spectroradiometer designed for the measurement of narrow band emitters including laser diodes in production and laboratories worldwide.
